Greece won a top distinction in the British market. Our country has emerged as the Best European Country in the awards The Telegraph Travel Awards 2025.
These awards have been organized since 1998 with the aim of rewarding the top travel products and services and are considered particularly influential for the tourist choices of British travelers.
Readers of The Telegraph newspaper (subscribers and registered users of the electronic version), voting in 20 different categories for their favorite destinations, airlines, hotels, cottage rental companies and other travel experiences, based on their travels last year.
This year’s awards 20,000 readers of the newspaper brought Greece to the first place, overturning Italy after 25 consecutive years, which occupied the second, while Norway completed the top three.
The awards were announced at a special event in Central London last Friday, July 11, 2025, with the Greek Award receiving the Head of the EOT United Kingdom and Ireland, Eleni Skarvelis.
Commenting on the selection of its readers, the newspaper’s online edition notes that Greece’s victory is “absolutely worthy, because there are few things in which the country does not excel. Its islands, scattered in the waters of the Ionian and Aegean, are exquisite. Like the “visible” story, dug on the slopes of the hills from the Parthenon to the Acropolis of Athens to the ruins of Knossos in Crete. “
The Telegraph is one of the top media in the United Kingdom, with a significant influence on its wealthy and traveling active audience. According to the latest data, it has over 600,000 digital subscribers, while the traveling section on its site attracts more than 12,000,000 unique visitors annually.
