In North Korea Sergei Lavrov: He met with Kim Jong Un

Meeting with Kim Jong Un had the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov During his visit to North Korea, while meeting with his North Korean counterpart in the coastal city of Wonzan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry posted a photo of the two men, Sergei Lavrov and Kim Jong Un during a meeting held in the North Korean coastal town of Wonzan.

Russia and North Korea have deepened their relations due to the war in Ukraine. Thousands of North Korean soldiers have been on the front of the conflict for months to expel Ukrainian forces from the Russian region of Kursk.

Meeting in the city of Wonsan

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met today with his North Korean counterpart in the coastal city of Wonzan.

During the meeting, Pyongyang reaffirmed to support Russia’s military actions in Ukraine, the Russian news agency TASS reported.

Lavrov flew to North Korea coming from the capital of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur from which he departed yesterday, after a conference by the Foreign Ministers of the Union of Southeast Asia States (ASEAN), reaching the same day in Wonation, which is a new seaside.

It was a high -level meeting, as the two countries are upgrading their strategic cooperation, including a mutual defense agreement.

“We have exchanged views on the situation around the crisis in Ukraine … Our friends in Korea confirmed their steady support for all the objective purposes of the Special Military Operation, as well as the actions of the Russian leadership and the Armed Forces,” Tass said.
