Ritsona: Huge disasters at the Plastic Fire Factory – Extraordinary Measures for residents due to dangerous tobacco

Shortly after 09:00, he sounded a message from an emergency number 112 to residents and visitors to the area, warning of dangerous tobacco and inviting them to stay indoors with doors and windows closed, following the authorities’ instructions.

Extraordinary meters from the region

The reaction of the Region of Central Greece was immediate, with the activation of all its available means and sending aquifers and staff to support the extinguishing project, at the request of the Fire Brigade. At the same time, the Spatial Vice -Mayor of Euboea, Mr. George Kelaiditis, put the Civil Protection, Environment, Health and Veterinary Services, while a detailed announcement was issued with instructions to citizens to protect public health.

In particular, the Central Region warns of the existence of harmful substances and microparticles in the smoke that is emitted, capable of being transported over long distances. The competent services are directly undergoing checks on the impact on the atmosphere, soil and arable products, while preventive measures have already been issued for the general population, and especially for vulnerable groups.

Among the instructions included:

Avoid staying outdoors where they are affected by tobacco.

Hermetically closed windows and doors until definitive extinguishing.

Scholastic cleaning of courtyards, tanks, outdoors and products (vegetables, fruits).

Restriction of children and pets to complete cleaning of the area.

Immediate medical advice for those who show respiratory or related symptoms.

Particular attention is also paid to water tanks and watering animals, which are called upon to remain covered to avoid pollution from the soot and floating particles of the fire.

According to the Fire Brigade, ground forces are operating with 11 vehicles and 26 firefighters.
