The National Social Climate Plan (CCS) was put into public consultation, the approval of which is a prerequisite for the activation of the Social Climate Fund, that is, one of the three new European funds activated by Greece. The social fund for the Climate will have budget EUR 4.7 billion and its actions will be implemented from 2026 to 2032.
It is recalled that the social plan for the climate, with a budget of € 4.7 billion, sets up a coherent and targeted network of reforms, investments and allowances. Its actions are organized into three main pillars: buildings, transport and immediate income support. They aim to lift social and regional inequalities, with emphasis on vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities and single parent families. Potential beneficiaries of the new fund are 1.5 million households and 75 mm very small businesses.
It is noted that the basic initiatives that are part of the social climate plan in the field of buildings are as follows: Energy shielding buildings and replacement of devices to reduce energy costs. Creation of social housing in public / municipal real estate for use by public officials. New renovate-I know. Student home renovation. Service and guidance of vulnerable citizens and very small businesses through municipal and chamber community centers.
Correspondingly, the actions that have been included in the transport sector are as follows: Electric buses in urban centers. New and upgraded subway trains. Accessibility Infrastructure at OSE and MMM stations. Construction of bicycles and sidewalks. Renewal of a fleet of vehicles and trucks.
For very small businesses, energy upgrading and replacement of energy -intensive equipment, as well as acquisition of professional electric vehicles, are foreseen.
In addition, with regard to direct income support measures, heating allowance has been provided for vulnerable households using fossil fuels. As well as rent subsidy for vulnerable households and public officials working away, and especially in mountainous, remote and island areas.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis, said: “The government has secured a new € 8 billion financial package, equivalent to half a ” recovery fund ”. One of the 3 new funds we are activating is the social climate fund, with actions that will have a strong environmental and social sign. Through the Social Climate Fund, we will be able, among other things, to ‘run’ a program of modernization of public transport. To practice a number of housing actions. To implement a new ” save ”. As well as support our fellow citizens working in areas with a large housing issue, such as the islands. It is our commitment that we will move with speed and efficiency, not only to absorb this money, but also to use it in the right way. “
