THE Olympic lost 3-2 sets to Lugoz in Romania, however, having won the first match 3-2, qualified for the quarterfinals in Challenge Cup for women’s volleyball.
Olympiacos advanced to the top 8 teams of this year’s Women’s Challenge Cup, despite losing to Lugoz in Romania with 3-2 sets as the 3-0 in the first match at Rentis’ indoor was the “cushion” his team needed Lorenzo Micelli to celebrate a great qualification.
In the quarter-finals, Olympiacos will face the winner of the Galatasaray-Pfeffingen match with the Turkish team (coached by former Federal coach Guillermo Naranhos with Giannis Paraschidis as his assistant) having won 3-0 in Switzerland and wanting two sets in their match Thursday (12/12) in Istanbul.
The game
Olympiacos again played with Nasia Fakopoulidou on the wings with Abderahim, however Lugoz started the match better and easily took the first set 25-16. The “answer” from the “red and white” was immediate, as they improved impressively in the attack and tied at 1-1 (25-21).
Lugoz retook the lead by taking advantage of Olympiakos’ 11 errors in the third set, but with the amazing Fariole (she finished the match with 20 points and 8 blocks) dominating the net, the Greek team prevailed in the fourth set (25- 15) ensuring qualification.
In the tiebreak Lorenzo Micelli made several changes, Olympiacos had the lead until 8-10, but Lugoz with individual scores 7-1 took the set and the prestigious victory.
