Greek men were handcuffed police to two foreigners who trafficked fake travel documents in Column and the “Eleftherios Venizelos” international airport.
According to the police, a 46-year-old foreigner was arrested following an operation by the Immigration Management Department of the Attica Aliens Directorate, in the area of Kolonos.
This person is accused of forgery and possession of passports and travel documents.
A case was also filed against a 36-year-old accomplice, locked up in a detention center.
In cooperation with Europol, it was established that the 46-year-old man, at least since 2020, had been trafficking travel documents by post in various European countries.
The “tariff” for each fake passport ranged from 400 to 900 euros.
At the 46-year-old’s house in Colonos, 9 travel documents of doubtful authenticity, as well as a mobile phone, were found and confiscated.
The arrested person was taken to the competent Prosecutor.
In addition, at midday on Wednesday (10.11.2024), a 44-year-old foreigner was arrested by police officers of the Security Department of the Athens Airport Police Directorate for possession of fake passports.
The 44-year-old arrived on a flight from Luxembourg, and after a search in his possession, 22 travel documents of doubtful authenticity were found and confiscated.
And he, with the case file against him, was taken to the competent Prosecutor.
