The Prime Minister also referred to the launch of projects of € 100m by 2030 in the monastic state
“Enlightened Center for Spiritual Offer, which becomes a compass in a world that often loses its orientation”, characterized the Holy Mountain Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during his disagreement at the Church of Protatos in Karyes And he underlined the “practical will of the government to stand up for his timeless course”.
Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out that Mount Athos, internationally but especially for the Greeks, is a place of “personal peace, meditation and rebellion” over time, but at the same time “and a source of collective hope”.
The prime minister also referred to the planning of projects of € 100 million to 2030 in the monastic state, which relate to infrastructure, relics and environmental protection.
“With respect, with emotion, with great joy I meet you again here at the Church of Protatos in the heart of Athonian monasticism, once again ready to express the gratitude of our state and our people, for the enormous work you do,” the prime minister said,
“Because, Mount Athos is not just a sanctuary, but an enlightened Center for Spiritual Offer, which becomes a compass, as you said, in a world that often seems to lose its orientation. And with his reflection he sounds louder than any voice and his faith to become power for everyone. And with a reason that acquires a special, special importance in our troubled days. Especially for us Greeks, Athos has always been a place of personal serenity, meditation and rebellion. At the same time, however, there was a source of collective hope. That is why my presence here today indicates the government’s practical will to stand up for this timeless course. A message, which I repeat, that I convey here both as prime minister and as a mere pilgrim. We will then have the opportunity to discuss our plan for the significant financial support of the Mount Athos of Mount Athos with 100 million euros by 2030, so that we can launch extremely important projects that concern many different fields. “
The prime minister emphasized that this design concerns projects, such as the maintenance of the monasteries, their revocation after the recent earthquake, the protection of their relics, and even interventions to preserve the unique nature of Mount Athos and the convenience of thousands of pilgrims.
Mr. Mitsotakis also noted that he would discuss with the monks and issues of “security” and other “challenges of our time” and added:
“But most importantly, the roads in which the reason for the truth and sobriety of the Athenian state can now be heard more powerful in a global environment of confusion and uncertainty.”
The prime minister noted that he has visited Mount Athos many times, “as a citizen, as a party leader and now as prime minister,” and continued:
“So I want you to know that the government will be by your side, as will be next to all Christians in the wider region and the Middle East tested. We will be by your side. This is a place that I understand, not only as the duty of the state in history and tradition, but also as a reactionary debt to the spirituality of the Virgin Mary. Let me say it, I realize it as a personal need. “
In his address, Protector Abraham wished the Prime Minister, the Virgin Mary, the patron of Mount Athos, “To illuminate your energy and your ministry in the common interest of the people and the homeland and to guide the state on the streets of cooperation, justice and spiritual regeneration.”
A treat was followed by the Prime Minister and his accompaniment to the Hierarchical Palace, in the presence of the abbots and representatives of the twenty monasteries of Mount Athos.
