Pilot program for digital empowerment of 3,600 people over 65 and 2,800 people with disabilities (Disabled), total public expenditure of € 6.8 million is part of the National Plan of Greece 2.0, funded by the Recovery and Revolution Fund (TAA), by a joint ministerial decision signed by the Ministers of Social Cohesion and Family Domna Michaelidou, Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, Deputy Minister of Finance Nikos Papathanassis and Deputy Minister of Interior Vassilis Spanakis.
The subject of the program funded by TAA is the familiarity, training and empowerment of the elderly and disabled in new technologies. Supporting actions of digital education and empowerment are aimed at removing technophobia, psychological and counseling support and digital literacy of the elderly and disabled in order to enhance their independent living, to reduce their dependence on their supporting environment and to promote their social environment.
The program will be implemented at 120 nodes of digital strengthening in municipalities across the country for people over 65, as well as at 80 corresponding nodes in areas and structures providing services to disabled. As for the process of integrating into the program, the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family will be published in the next period.
Interested municipalities and service providers to people with disabilities will be invited, in the first stage, to apply to the Empower.gov.gr platform of the Ministry of Digital Governance for the creation and operation of digital empowerment nodes.
Interested citizens will then be invited, upon an invitation, to submit, on the same platform, a request to participate in order to be selected and attend 70 -hour courses for people over 65 and 80 hours for people with disabilities.
Upon completion of the program, the educational material will be posted at the National Academy of Digital Abilities managed by the National Technology and Research Infrastructure Network (EY -GRET), a body of the Ministry of Digital Governance, and will remain available in digital e -learning format Citizen within the territory.
The project is part of the National Plan of Greece Recovery and Resilience and Greece with the funding of the European Union -NextGenerationeu and implementation bodies by the National Technology and Research Infrastructure Network (EDYTE SA -GRET) and the Institute of National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities and Chronic Diseases.
