Paula Bandasa’s return to Courts, after the injury that forced her to withdraw from the quarter -finals of the Berlin tournament, was not accompanied by the desired result, with the 27 -year -old Spanish, former No.2 of the world to bid farewell to the tournament.
The match began with a delay due to the marathon race between Carlos Alcarath and Fabio Fonini at the central court. Despite the wait, Bulter entered the race dynamically, taking advantage of her opponent’s sluggish start and making two quick breaks that gave her a 4-1 lead. With a fixed service and aggressive game, he got the first set with 6-2.
Bandosa, however, showed signs of recovery in the second set. It uploaded its performance, led 5-1 and, despite losing a service game, kept control and equalized to a 1-1 set with 6-3.
The third set was the most competitive and full of intensity. The Spanish managed to break in the first game after five opportunities, but Bulter responded immediately. The two tennis players were playing point by 5-4, when the British found the opportunity to “hit” at the crucial point. Taking advantage of the second of three break opportunities, he broke Bandasa’s service and secured the qualification in the second round.
In the next round, Bulter will face 21-year-old Argentina Solana Sierra, who dominated Olivia Gandek 6-2, 7-6 (8).

For Paula Bandas, who had reached the fourth round last year, the premature exclusion came as a result of a lack of racing rhythm and her recent return from injury, elements that appeared decisively in a demanding tricolor.
