Her resignation of the position of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs was submitted by Tasos Hatzivasiliou in Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the case of OPECEPE. The prime minister accepted her.
In a letter sent by Mr. Hadjivasiliou to Mr. Mitsotakis he mentioned the following:
“To Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis
Dear Mr President,
My individual telephone communication with the president of OPEKEPE in 2021 is not related and does not concern the subject of financial fraud and the illegal subsidies investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
As a member of Serres, a predominantly rural region, I wanted to seek opportunities for transferring rights between farmers, for force majeure, in accordance with the relevant provisions. My sincere attempt to help my fellow citizens within the framework of the legislation has absolutely nothing to do with illegal acts or financial transactions. I clarify that the relevant request, as the right, were made, was not finally accepted by the Service. Reality is not in question.
But for reasons of existence, please accept my resignation from the position of Deputy Foreign Minister. For me, the priority is the undisturbed course of the government’s work for the development of the homeland.
