The Fire Service faced this summer’s most serious fire in Attica, which broke out early on Thursday afternoon (26/6) in its area Old Phocaea. The fire spread rapidly on a front of about 8 kilometers, causing extensive damage to property. The extinguishing operation involved 24 aerial means, over 170 firefighters, 64 vehicles and five hiking sections.
Despite the titanic attempt of the firefighting forces by both land and air, the fire, which burned large areas and caused serious disasters in homes, vehicles and other property, from the area of thyme to the ruler, could not be controlled.
