Metlen: ‘closed’ deal with Jinko 3 GWh batteries

Utilizing the international shift to energy storage solutions, the Metlen It puts energy batteries at the center of its strategy by signing agreement With Jinko Solar, one of the leading worldwide manufacturers in the industry, for the supply of storage systems with a total capacity of 3 GWH, a quantity covering part of its increasing needs in new storage projects.

This agreement provides Metlen stable power supply with critical equipment, at a time when global competition for raw materials and storage technologies is intensified. Of the total amount agreed with Jinko, about 75% of installed power will be channeled to foreign projects, while the remaining 20–25% are intended for projects in Greece.

The batteries included in the agreement will be produced mainly in China and concern projects already in the process of being implemented. “This is not a theoretical agreement, we are talking about projects that are currently being built, with the aim of settling by the end of the year,” Metlen’s General Manager (23.6.2025) said yesterday (23.6.2025) at Metlen’s renewable energy sources (RES).

“In particular, we predict that the majority of the projects – about 1.6 GWh – will be completed by the end of 2025, and our aim is to have all projects installed and electrified by June 2026,” he said.

Mr Papapetrou clarified that “all projects are implemented by Metlen and are fully owned by the company. These are projects that are already being implemented in countries such as Chile and Greece, and we are expanding to other European markets. ” Part of these projects will remain in the company’s ownership, while the rest will be sold for sale as part of the “Asset Rotation” model.

Referring to their collaboration with Jinko, Mr. Papapetrou emphasized: “In the field of photovoltaics we work with three suppliers, but Jinko undoubtedly holds the largest share of our cooperation. He has won it through the confidence and stability it has shown over the years, especially in difficult times and during the changes in the solar sector industry. Our choice to continue and enhance cooperation with them is based on the proven credibility of our relationship. At the same time, Jinko has ambitious and extensive plans to store energy worldwide, which gives us the confidence that they will stand equally reliable in this new challenge. “

It is worth noting that Jinkosolar Holding, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, is considered one of the most pioneering and powerful players in the world’s photovoltaic sector. Activity in dozens of countries and a powerful industrial footprint, the company serves utility companies, commercial bodies and domestic consumers, offering comprehensive clean energy solutions.

“We are also working with other companies and we have already made the first batteries in Greece for another customer whose name we cannot disclose. Working with Metlen is extremely important to us, as it acts as a powerful reference point that enhances the confidence of new customers towards our face, “said Jinko Solar’s Sales Sales Sales, Dimitris Varlamis.

Energy storage is a critical factor in the stability of the electrical system, as without RES cannot provide reliable and continuous supply and it is difficult to achieve the goals of energy transition.

At a time when the importance of storage is reinforced and demand for relevant equipment is increasing rapidly, this strategic cooperation enhances the company’s readiness. An indication of the global trend is that installed storage units are expected to increase from 155 GWh in 2024 to 205 GWh in 2025.
