The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Attica General Hospital.
Mr Mitsotakis was guided by Deputy Minister of Health Marios Themistokleous in the fully renovated emergency department (ICT), whose spaces were expanded and modernized, with the result that the ICC has now been able to receive emergencies of about 87,000.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited other hospital units, including the fully renovated 5th floor rehabilitation center and was informed of the progress of the work on the rest of the floors.
He also had the opportunity to talk to citizens and staff members, including doctors who returned to Greece from abroad. “Here is our home,” one doctor told him, who returned from England.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis was informed by Commander Ioannis Iliopoulos of the increased capabilities of the CAT, whose budget increased by almost 70% in the past five years, rising to 66.3 million euros in 2024, while employees have increased by 191 from 2019 to 2019.
As a result, KAT performs 15,000 surgeries annually and its regular outpatient clinics serve about 110,000 citizens per year.
The projects in the CAT are included in the broader upgrading plan of all levels of the public health system, with resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund. Reportedly, renovation and upgrades are expected to be completed within the next few months in the more than 16 ICTs in Attica.
