Increase 6.4% was the movement of passenger the first five months of 2025 in total airport of the country.
Specifically, passengers trafficked by Greek airports during January-May 2025 reached 21,830,648, compared to 20,518,545 passengers in the corresponding period of 2024.
Regarding the number of aircraft movements (arrivals and departures of domestic and abroad) for the first five months of 2025, in total of 39 airports in the country, there was a 5.2% increase compared to 2024.
In particular, in total of January-May 2025, 177,397 flights were made, compared to 168,604 flights in the first five months of 2024.
An increase of 8.2 % of passengers at 24 CAA Airports for the first five months of 2025
According to Civil Aviation Authority data, passenger traffic at its 24 -management airports (Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupolis, Lemnos, Astypalaia, Ioannina, Chios, Kozani, Kastoria, Kastoria, Karpathos Ikaria, Kastelorizo, Kasos, Leros, Sitia) in the first five months of 2025, compared to 2024.
In particular, the total passengers (arrivals and departures of external and domestic passengers) January-May 2025 amounted to 2,708,965 passengers, compared to 2,504,584 passengers in 2024.
May 2025: Heraklion Airport served over 1.05 million passengers
Heraklion Crete State Airport served 1,054,181 passengers in May, ie 2% increase compared to the same month. At the same time, the most significant percentage increases of passenger traffic at the CAA Airports in May 2025, compared to 2024, were recorded at Nea Anchialos Airport +313.8% (3,716 passengers. ’25 – 898 passengers in ’24), at Ioannina Airport +56.1% (12,680% in Ioannina – 8.122 Passengers in ’24), at Araxos Airport +30.2% (15,544 passengers. ’25 – 11,940 passengers in ’24) and at Naxos Airport +24.8% (21,441 passengers in ’25 – 17.174 passengers in ’24).
