It has caused a wave of reactions to France his publication magazine Madame Figaro, which describes Julia, the 13-year-old daughter of Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni, as “more woman than ever”.
Madame Figaro, one of France’s most popular magazines, published photos of Julia commenting: “We discover a teenager who is more woman than ever.”
The report came after a series of social media videos of Nicolas Sarkozy’s daughter showing her lip syncing rap songs.
“Julia records herself looking directly into the camera, dressed in a black top, straight hair and manicured eyes and cheeks” commented, among others, in its controversial article Madame Figaro.
Although the text was marked as referring to a 13-year-old, there were nevertheless references to the “model style” which, according to the editors, “is an obvious continuation of the legacy of her mother, a modeling icon in the 90s.”
Naturally, both the style of the publication and the phrase “she is more of a woman than ever” caused a storm of reactions, with users on social media accusing the magazine of inappropriate and irresponsible characterizations, noting that “she is only a child”.
Characteristic of the outrage caused by the magazine is the posting in X of the former minister of European affairs of France, Natalie Loiso.
“Madame Figaro you are writing about a 13-year-old child. Such characterizations are inappropriate and even irresponsible. I invite you to think before using such expressions,” he characteristically wrote.
“Model look”, “more woman than ever”… Madame Figaro, you are talking about a 13 year old child. This vocabulary is out of place. I would even say that he is irresponsible. Think before you post sentences like that. pic.twitter.com/Hvp4FHloXa

At the same time, his concerns were also expressed by Erwan Le Morhedeclawyer and essayist from Paris. “She’s a little girl,” he wrote, adding that “her parents would be wise to take a look at her account.”
“To present a 13-year-old girl as ‘more woman than ever’ is shocking and embarrassing,” commented the Hugo Baupa leading psychiatrist in France.

In the videos, Julia mimics songs by Maître Gims (Master Gims) – the Franco-Congolese hip-hop star associated with the Paris rap collective Sexion d’Assaut, a collective accused of a range of biases, including sexism and homophobia.

After the reactions, the disputed post of the French magazine was “taken down” by X, without, however, Madame Figaro withdrawing its article or apologizing for the disputed characterizations.
