EUR 20.6 billion, from € 12.8 billion in 2023, reached 2024 disbursements of bank to businesses, with the largest share (loans EUR 8.5 billion) to be directed to large businesses, the medium -sized businesses to receive 3.2 billion loans and the small € 1.8 billion.
The characteristics of banks funding with loans to Greek companies in 2024, from the Anacredit Credit Data Basis quoted by the BoG in the Monetary Policy 2024 – 2025, also show that a significant amount of funding resources (worth about 3 billion euros) were for businesses that were set up by 2024 for which they did not have 20 billion. data or number of employees in order to size their classification. In addition, a notable loan amount was linked to companies that are classified in very small businesses, they are not representative of the standard very small business. These non -representative companies, due to the nature of their activity, employ a small number of employees (eg Holding companies) or have a very low turnover. As far as the number of loans are concerned, it was a half of the small businesses.
According to statistical data, new loans to businesses in 2024 mainly concerned companies active in the industry and processing sector and the production of electricity or exploitation of renewable energy sources. In particular, in terms of loan value: 21% was linked to industry and processing companies, 20% of electricity, gas, water and sewage, 12% wholesale and retail, 12% of transport and storage and 10% of accommodation and catering.
Among the individual categories of credit products, a larger share of the value of disbursed new loans (62%) corresponded to “credit lines”, which basically relate to a regular expiry loans for a period of one year. Following, with a share of 28%, the expiry of the expiry loans, which in practice include a defined lump sum loans, and finally, with a share of about 9%, the recycled credits, ie the credits they provide to the borrower the possibility of repeated withdrawals. These three categories covered almost all of the disbursements of new bank loans to domestic non -financial companies for 2024, with the remaining forms of lending (credit cards, overdrafts, funding with the assignment of commercial claims, etc.) to less than 1% of new borrowers.
