Disruption was triggered on Tuesday afternoon (18/6) in the Kampi Maritime area, northwest of Zakynthos, when a luxury yacht with Italy flagged on the coast, having six foreigners from the Romanian nationals.
The incident immediately mobilized the Zakynthos Port Authority, which was informed of the incident and implemented the local research and rescue plan. At the scene, a Coast Guard patrol car, a land patrol car, as well as a private rescue vessel, rushed to the spot.
The latter found the overwhelmed yacht with its passengers already off the boat on the coast. The six foreigners were safely transported to Porto Mary Oats, without injuries and being in good health.
The boat was later towed, with the help of a passenger-tourist ship, in the port of Zakynthos, where it was safely bound.
The Governor of the yacht was arrested by the Zakynthos Port Authority, which is investigating the incident for the incident, as he was charged with a shipwreck, in accordance with Article 277 of the Criminal Code. At the same time, a ban was issued until the vessel was submitted, until a certificate of repair of the damage by the competent classification society.
It is noteworthy that the incision did not cause marine pollution in the area.
