The Mercedes B-Class with natural gas will make its premiere at the Paris show, with sales to follow in early 2013. It is equipped with the 1.6 with 156 PS and consumes 4.2 kg of natural gas per 100 km. CO2 emissions fall to 115 g/km, i.e. 16% less than those of the conventional B200 BlueEFFICIENCY. Of course, the performance of the B 200 Natural Gas Drive is negatively affected compared to the gasoline version, but not dramatically. Top speed is 200 km/h and acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h takes 9.1 seconds (versus 220 km/h and 8.4 seconds).
The double floor under the rear seat holds either one large or two smaller compressed natural gas tanks, with a capacity of 21 kg (equivalent to 125 lt.). Thus, the luggage compartment is kept intact. The autonomy using natural gas reaches 500 km.
