TERNA Group: At 5.9 billion euros its contribution to GDP in Greece in 2024 – supports a total of 37,000 jobs

The strong influence of the group GEK TERNA In the national economy and society, the Group’s “Seia) study of the Group for the year 2024” is confirmed for yet another year.

Through the findings of the study it is deduced that the strategy of the GEK TERNA Group has been designed and implemented with a key focus on sustainable development, which is in line with social responsibility, environmental protection and focuses on humans and the prosperity of local communities.

According to the study, The group contributed 5.9 billion euros to GDP. Specifically, the group’s total contribution to GDP for 2024 corresponds to 2.5% of the country’s total GDP. The € 5.9 billion is, on average, about 2.3 times higher than the two years 2022 – 2023.

At the same time, the total impact on national public revenue amounted to EUR 1.1 billion, an amount equivalent to 1.5% of the country’s total tax revenue for 2024, and is 2.8 times more on average compared to the two years 2022 – 2023.

The immediate impact of GEK TERNA Group on GDP approaches 4 billion euros. In addition, the Group’s extensive supply chain, which includes suppliers, service providers and other partners, offers an additional € 1.3 billion through indirect effects.

These effects arise from the supply of goods and services necessary for the operation of the Group, enhancing economic activity in many areas and strengthening the overall economic ecosystem.

Finally, The total induced effect amounts to EUR 624 millionindicating the chain effects from the costs of employees and others who benefit from the group’s direct and indirect activities.

Particularly important is the imprint of GEK TERNA and in employment. For the year 2024, about 37,000 jobs were supported by the activity of the GEK TERNA Group and its associates. It is worth noting that these jobs account for 0.9% of total employment in Greece for 2024, while for any immediate jobs in the GEK TERNA Group supports 7 additional jobs in the wider Greek economy.

GEK TERNA Group continued the Corporate Social Responsibility Program (CSR) for 2024, with investments of 4 million euros in social support programs. The dedication to sustainable development, the well -being of local communities, to investing in the preparation of new engineers through the “Multiple Generation” program, in enhancing the inclusion and satisfying the needs of the parties concerned, remains a central pillar of the Group’s actions.

The 5 main axes of the EKP program focus on health and health care, education, culture, the environment and support in emergencies. Indicative examples of intervention in critical situations are the initiative to fully restore the Penteli indoor gym after the fire of 2024, as well as the rehabilitation in the Mandra-Magoula area, through the funding of study and execution of 1 million euros.

An internationally recognized methodology based on the scientific work of Nobel laureate Economist Wassily Leontief was used to study the socio -economic footprint of GEK TERNA. This methodology applies a model of “inputs-outputs”, which allows the group’s effects to be quantified on society and the economy. The study was prepared by the contribution of PWC Business Solutions SA as part of a wider cooperation of consulting services on sustainable development issues of the GEK TERNA Group.
