Mr Tsipras puts heavy points for the party’s first -class executives referring to the period of Stefanos Kasselakis: “They avoid answering the key question, talking about the big elephant in the room: why Kasselakis was 11. It remained for 11 months because half of the Political Secretariat and the Executive Potential have tolerated and supported a completely arbitrary, anti -democratic, anti -partisan function by visiting a better position and more power under President Kasselakis. Let me remind you that many of the policies of “strabismus” that SYRIZA was charged with Kasselakis had the agreement of this staffing potential that today keeps the same positions above. The biggest mistake with the election of Kasselakis was not the risk of the first one, but the illusion that the staff had limits and criteria on what was willing to swallow, ”he writes in his letter.

I let you know my departure and typically by a member of SYRIZA. As you know from the end of 2024 I have ceased to be actively involved in party processes and in my speech on JV 24/3/2025 I said it was my last participation in the instrument. It goes without saying that my choice has nothing to do with comrades in West Attica and the thousands of members from all over Greece that I have met and worked for the past 20 years. After all, the overwhelming most of it has distanced itself as it appeared from the conference.
The image of the party that is shaped by the consciousness of most former SYRIZA voters is that what is mainly of interest to many of its branded executives is to reproduce positions. SYRIZA has long gone through the unreliability that has been reflected in the dramatic shrinkage of the 2023 elections, in disrepair: it is not that the world simply does not believe that SYRIZA can be an alternative perspective, but it does not even believe in many of its brands. They all look like a game. Are they wrong?
Two notes to clarify my own position on SYRIZA’s downside.
1. With the defeat in the 2023 elections, SYRIZA was already in a deep crisis. There is no doubt that the Kasselaki period and after it was the tombstone, but the crisis was already deep. The refusal of SYRIZA, all the wings of SYRIZA, to deal with the causes of the crisis prescribed the subsequent course.
SYRIZA could do a lot of the 2015-2019 governance period even in a memorandum. I am referring to the period after the September 2015 elections. He did much less than he could. It is not an alibi to how different the SYRIZA government was from that of the ND, if the country came out of the memorandums or if it was useful to manage today’s kleptocracy.
The main issue was to engrave a different perspective for the country and the social majority, different from politics before the memorandums and different from today’s, to convince a social majority that such a perspective is possible. In the economy, in foreign policy, in the state. In this, SYRIZA has failed, and there has never been a serious account of not affecting persons and political choices. It didn’t fail because by 2018 we were in a memorandum. Nor did it fail only because of incompetence but mainly because there was no political will and intent to make such a perspective, let alone planning.
We continued in the 2019-23 period to defend the wrong choices and failures of the governance period giving food to the anti -SYRIZA front and damaging ourselves. Self -liberation has taken the place of a serious account of a corrective course. 32% in 2019 and the expectation of thousands and thousands of people at the time to set up a great progressive faction (Alexis Tsipras’ announcement on the election night) was the best starting point for such a corrective path that never came, while there were opportunities. SYRIZA in 2019-23 was objectively able to redefine itself and change the map of the progressive space.
The majority of the social and party base wanted it but on a leading level, SYRIZA never treated it seriously. I am not referring to the umbrella that had its own minority view but to the rest and ultimately to the whole.
The 2019-23 period is the only one for which a report was later made and I am not expanding. 32% of 2019 was just a second chance that people generously gave despite the big complaints they were justified.
It was denied and followed by the punishment and collapse in the 2023 elections. It is a common secret that the views expressed by G. Katrougalos on Wednesday before the election were majority in a staffing potential that never dealt with what was not serious.
This was a consolidated “culture” of SYRIZA’s operation on a leading level.
2. Essential report in SYRIZA has not existed for the Kasselakis period either, continuing the tradition of a party that for ten years, since winning the 2015 elections, systematically refuses to apologize and correct the most obvious.
Personally, I have any responsibilities for the presidency of the presidency in the deep crisis of an extreme case of a political scam. This does not mean that his opponent’s dominance responded to the deep crisis of SYRIZA. Everything else.
He represented the reproduction of negative SYRIZA features that had removed half the 2019 voters and guaranteed further shrinkage. Ophthalmic support from media centers was also unprecedented for SYRIZA. The victory of a skyscraper was the refusal of the world to continue SYRIZA as before.

It turned out that much of the limits did not have such limits! The boat was plunging into self -righteousness and half were looking for a better place on the sinking boat. After the Kasselaki Kasselakis, all of him, against him and his in favor, as if nothing happened, continued “united”. There is no conversation about all this in conference positions. In other words, the only political agreement that appears outward to link much of the senior staff is “everyone for himself”, with or without Kasselakis.
Therefore, people are not unjust in how they are dealing with SYRIZA, nor has he “misunderstood” him. The current danger erased for parliamentary survival intensifies these degenerative phenomena.
From the beginning, when it was now clear that the only thing that was interested in Kasselakis was the occupation of a party and nothing else, that is, at the latest after the new left, if there was at least the Central Committee on the unthinkable of the leadership of the arbitrary political function. And the Kasselaki unraveling would not just seem to be assured.
Most of the party members, absolutely uninformed beyond the president’s public pearls, began to “bend” what was happening in the upper ranks just at the February 2024 degrading conference, five months after his election. And the proposal for elections at the time was a suicide proposal for obvious reasons. The problem of a policy that does not unify or contradict different political but personal aspirations and strategies has dominated all the time from 2015 to 2023. promotes impotence and does not highlight politically.
Even PASOK has managed to promote more new executives from SYRIZA. It is a political function that promotes the individual instead of collective and politics.
For example, it was not only the “53” and later the umbrella, but also the movement of members or “presidential” who worked more as a pressure group for negotiation rather than promotion of policies. If politics dominated, many things would have become different in 2015-19, and the majority that would impose a SYRIZA correction course after 2019, beyond the indecision of Alexis Tsipras, would be overwhelming.
With the lack of a deficit of will and planning to make a different perspective for the country and the social majority, it is not an inexplicable mystery.
The deep deficit of a modern -way reorientation when everything is changing is not only a Greek problem and is reflected in the retreat internationally as well as the adoption of convenient, borrowing (usually by liberalism and Europeanism of elites) and rounded positions. This is not a mitigating or consolation for those who continue to walk the “automatic pilot” of the past.
If the dicked political function, which was mainly inherited by the old coalition and worsening the government SYRIZA, in the absence of politics itself, or with self -referentiality to reproduce politics, is reproduced in any new venture, with or without “unity of the center -left”.
