The deputy mayor AgrinioYiannis Farmakis, in a statement sent to local media on Sunday night (15/6/25) he announces his resignation from his self -governing duties.
It is a simple, three -line statement, stressing that “the truth will shine”, announcing that he resigns with confidence in justice and looking at every fellow citizen in Agrinio.

Yiannis Farmakis’ name had been discussed on the case with OPEKEPE for which he had issued a statement giving a response days ago. However, the current development of his resignation is said to be not related to this case, according to agrinionews.
It comes at a juncture in which – since Saturday 14/6/25 – there is intense rumor for some type of self -governing factor In the case of the circuit allegedly deceived KEPA committees.
This self -governing factor has not been called by the authorities so far, but his name was widely heard at the level of rumors. According to persons within the Municipal Authority of Agrinio, Mr. Farmakis’ resignation is described as “a brave decision”.
It is not clear, however, whether the resignation relates to the position of Deputy Mayor (the Directorate of Environment and Green) or even the position of Municipal Councilor and will be called upon to be replaced by the first runner -up Mr. Chouliaras.
