For a number of possible threats against the Greek energy system they are prepared by ADMIE and RAAE

Dozens of different scenarios that can threaten the smooth operation of the Greek electricity system are analyzed in the context of the ADMIE and RAAE risks.

This is a text prepared for the first time in 2022 in accordance with the EU Regulation and has now been informed on the basis of current data. The plan, which was put into consultationprovides for almost 40 different scenarios. Includes natural disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms, prolonged heatwaves, or even solar storms.

It also takes into account the possibility of cyberattacks, industrial-nuclear accidents, malicious actions by opposing states and cases of lack of fossil fuel supply.

The list is complemented by scenarios such as extremely low RES production and damage to critical infrastructure on the network.

Naturally, some of these possibilities have now gained greater weight after the recent blackout in Spain. Thus, ADMIE focuses, inter alia, on enhancing the security and reliability of the transport network.

To this end, it has launched investments of more than € 100 million this year and in 2026 to replace equipment in existing high voltage substations and centers, as well as to modernize surveillance and control systems.

At the same time, it stands on the importance of new interconnections with the islands and neighboring countries, the development of energy storage, digitization and the development of balancing market.
