Sadness in the football field scattered the news of the death of a fan who collapsed during his Finland – Poland (2-1) for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, held on Tuesday night (10.06.2025).
The unfortunate Polish sports fan felt unwell while he was on the Olympic Stadium stadiums in Helsinki (other reports refer to epileptic seizures and others about a stroke).
Despite the efforts of the rescuers who rushed to the spot and the medical staff who transported him to the hospital, his condition was critical. The referee interrupted the match for about half an hour, with the match continuing to be completed.
According to the official briefing by the Finnish police, the fan ended up on Wednesday morning (11.06.2025), after a battle to keep alive.
The incident overshadowed the atmosphere of the match, with everyone’s thoughts turning to the family and relatives of the deceased.

The sad incident was announced by the Finland Football Federation and the domestic police.
