The final charge that consumers will pay in December electricity have fluctuating tariffs, it will be the same as in November, the Minister of Energy emphasized today (6.12.2024) speaking in the Parliament, Theodoros Skylakakis.

Theodoros Skylakakis clarified that the electricity subsidy will be of the order of 1.5 cents per kilowatt hour and will be officially announced within the day.

As he added, in the coming months the total cost from the subsidy will be calculated, so that fiscal measures can be taken with intervention in the power generation to cover it. In any case, there will be no burden on the budget.

In the longer term, the minister said that this year electricity prices are 10-15% lower than in 2023 for households.

“Prices today across Europe are higher and in our region more so. Weaknesses outside of Greece are responsible for this. Greek production in November had large exports, which was not the case in the past. If it were not for the weaknesses of our neighbors, then RES production would lead to much lower prices if we were isolated and without interconnections, but the European legislation does not allow this”, noted Mr. Skylakakis.
