The threatened retaliation that the Russia will launch Vladimir Putinagainst Ukraine for unmanned aircraft raids last week, have not yet happened and is likely to be a “significant and multifaceted blow”, according to US officials under anonymity at Reuters on Sunday (08.06.065).
Specifically, according to a Reuters report, the time of the response from Moscow was not clear, with a source saying that is expected within days. A second American diplomat said retaliation is likely to include various types of airlines, including rockets and drones.
“Russia will answer wickedly and relentlessly”
However, US officials did not detail the expected targets set by Russia, nor have they developed information issues.
One diplomat said the Russian attack would be “asymmetric”which means that its approach and target will not reflect Ukraine’s hit against Russian war aircraft at airports.
It is noted that Russia launched rockets against Kiev on Friday (06.06.2025) and the country’s defense ministry said the blow to military and military targets was an answer to what he called as “Ukrainian terrorist acts” against Russia. However, US officials believe that the full Russian response has not yet come.
Another, senior, western diplomat, envisioned a further devastating attack by Moscow. “It will be huge, wicked and relentless”he said, noting that “the Ukrainians, however, are brave people.”
‘Possible target is Ukraine’s security service’
THE MichaelRussia expert in American “Carnegie Endowment for International Peace” said he expected he expect Moscow may seek to punish Ukraine’s internal security service, namely SBU, for its role in the May 31 -June attack. To send a message, Russia could use middle -range ballistic missiles for the attack, he said.
