THE Donald Trump He is the leader who when he opens his mouth, you do not know what a “diamond” will come out- so in the case of his meeting with Friedrich Mertz in the White House.
Trump today welcomed the German Chancellor (05.06.2025) and on the sidelines of their talks, the US president also commented on tomorrow’s anniversary of the Normandy landing – the day that allied forces invaded Normandy, France during the World.
What did Trump say? “It wasn’t a good day for you»…
Trump made these comments while Mertz was talking to reporters about the war in Ukraine.
Mertz pointed out that it was the day that “the Americans … ended the war in Europe”.
“It wasn’t a pleasant day for you,” Trump replied.
“No, it wasn’t pleasant … well …” Merz began before Trump interrupted.
“It wasn’t a great day,” Trump said.
Merz interrupted him: ‘In the long run, Mr President, this was the liberation of my country from Nazi dictatorship».
“That’s true,” Trump said.

Merz continued by saying that “we know what we owe you”, adding that the US can play an equally crucial role in ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“America is, once again, in a very strong position to do something for this war and end it, so let’s discuss what we can do together,” the German Chancellor said.
“We are ready to do what we can and know that we have supported Ukraine and that we are seeking to put more pressure on Russia … we have to discuss this.”
