The revelations about the former Harrods owner have no end, Mohammed Al False (died in 2023), which has accused dozens of women of sexual abuse. Now, his former bodyguard reveals that spying clients through cameras in Harrods’ tasting centers for decades.
In the revealing new book entitled “The Monster of Harrods”, released on Thursday (05.06.2025), the former security man, known only as Biggie, reveals that the store was full of cameras They recorded both in the female toilets of the staff and the tests.
“People are not talking about it – there were cameras until the entrance and a little bit in the locker room used by Harrods customers, which meant that if they were in the Harrods locker room at the time of Faye, there was a high chance of watching you,” Biggie revealed.
The installation of the cameras, as well as the placement of bedbugs on the phones, is said to have been ordered by the head of his security, John Macnamara, so that Al Faye can monitor undisturbed and identify potential victims.
“Men were looking at the screens as if their lives were dependent on it. But they understood that many of McNamara’s questions were about women who had caught the attention of Fayed, so there were many laughs while watching women in testers and toilets, “Biggie adds.
Biggie was hired as one of the first “generals” in Al Faye’s security after the purchase of the flagship store in 1985.
Harrods, which belonged to the tycoon for 25 years before selling it in 2010, replied that:
“Nothing in our files indicates that there were cameras in staff or customers where their personal lives could be violated,” according to the Daily Mail.
Alison Kervin, author of the book, who interviewed 60 witnesses and former workers, claimed that about 40 screens transmitted images from every corner of the store 24 hours a day.
Another member of the staff, known as ‘The Engineer’ Due to his role in telephone espionage, he said there were “recording devices” and that everything that was transmitted was archived.
He said the cameras were “everywhere” and “working in Harrods was like living in the Truman Show.”
“I had to make sure they worked and recorded everything clearly … It was important to make the recordings and kept everything properly archived,” the former worker said.
He said that no one was out. He watched everyone, from financial directors and members of the Board of Directors to chaplain and bodyguards.
Al Fayy, has never been confronted with justice. He died in 2023 at the age of 94 and revelations about what he did in his life began last year, with more than 500 victims and witnesses appearing, complaining of sexual crimes.
