Nikos Sarganis died

The veteran passed away at the age of 70 on Sunday morning (8.12.24) goalkeeper Nikos Sarganis.

Veteran international goalkeeper Nikos Sarganis was hospitalized in a coma at “Errikos Dunan” hospital.

The “Phantom” of the Greek stadiums was fighting a big battle with cancer in the last period of time.

Nikos Sarganis, who was born on January 13, 1954, won three championships (1980-81, 1981-82, 1982-83) with Olympiakos and one Cup (1981), plus two championships (1895-86, 1989-90) ) with Panathinaikos, with whom he lifted three Cups (1986, 1988, 1989). The maiden title of his career was the 1980 Cup with Kastoria with a 5-2 win over Iraklis in the final.

He was one of the best goalkeepers (if not the best) that our country produced. He started his career at Ilysiakos (1974-77), while he then played in Kastoria (1977-80), before initially playing for five years at Olympiakos (1980-85) and wearing the shirt of Panathinaikos (1985- 90), while the last stop of his career was Athenaikos (1990-92).
