THE weather today, Sunday, December 8, it will be rainy in most areas of the country. Strong storms in the Ionian islands, Epirus and later in western Sterea, western Peloponnese, the eastern Aegean islands (mainly Samos – Ikaria region) and the Dodecanese.
According to the latest (in time) update of the emergency worsening weather report, today Sunday will be dominated by rain, storms and hail.
“Heavy rains and storms, which will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and local hailstorms, are forecast in places until the morning hours today Sunday (08-12-2024) in Thrace, the islands of the eastern Aegean and possibly in the Dodecanese, the Cyclades and the western Crete”, reports EMY.

Today’s weather according to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service (NMS): Initially, in eastern Macedonia, Thrace, the Cyclades, Crete, the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese, local rains and sporadic storms are predicted with a gradual subsidence of the phenomena. From the afternoon, rains and sporadic storms are predicted again, in the Ionian, the western continents and gradually in places in the rest of the continents, mainly central and north as well as in the Aegean, mainly in the east. The effects will be strong in places in Thrace and the islands of the eastern Aegean in the morning hours and from the afternoon probably in western Greece, the southernmost islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese. A little snow will fall in the highlands of Epirus and Macedonia. Visibility in the morning and evening hours will be locally limited.
The winds will blow south southwest 4 to 6 and in the seas locally 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will reach 13 to 15 degrees in the northern continental areas, 16 to 18 degrees in the rest of the country and locally 19 to 21 degrees Celsius in the south.

Weather: In eastern Macedonia and Thrace, clouds with rain and sporadic storms in Thrace, strong in places, with a rapid subsidence of the phenomena and rains and storms again from the evening hours. In western and central Macedonia local clouds that will increase from the afternoon and there will be local rains and possibly isolated storms in the evening. A little snow will fall in the mountains.
Winds: North northwesterlies 3 to 4 Beaufort, from the afternoon they will turn to South Southeast up to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 05 to 15 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia 3 to 4 degrees lower.
IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS

EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Temporary local clouds that will increase from the afternoon and in the evening mainly in the western parts there will be local rains and possibly isolated storms.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually from southern directions 4 to 6 and in the evening in the east and south to 7 Beaufort.

CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Clouds with local rains and sporadic storms mainly in the early morning hours. Gradually the phenomena will present a recession.

EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE
