PNO strike: “tied” for 48 hours from Tuesday the ships of the Patras – Italy line

The declaration of 48 hours strike in ships of the Adriatic running Patras – Igoumenitsa – Italy, starting on Tuesday, June 3 from 00:01 until Wednesday, June 4 at 24:00, the Pan -Hellenic Maritime Federation (PNO) decided, complaining that “none of the key problems has been solved”.

The PNO in the context of the strike and in a letter sent to the Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, denounces staff shortages on ships operating the specific routes, stressing that the situation poses risks not only to the seafarers themselves, but also for the safety of the passengers.

The letter, signed by PNO Secretary General Manolis Tsikalakis, includes clear proposals for the minimum number of crews per ship operating sector.

The PNO points out that this staffing is absolutely necessary, not only for the fight against exhaustive overtime, but also for “shielding security and protecting human life at sea”.
