The Minister of the Internal Affairs Argentinean announced today (29.05.2025) that 12 suspects were arrested for criminal acts associated with the infamous gang Tren de Aragua, an organization that has been described as “terrorist” in that country.
“It is an extremely dangerous gang and today 12 members were taken to the Argentine prison,” Minister Patricia Bulrich said at a press conference in Buenos Aires.
Bulrich said the gang had launched a barrage of attacks on stores, using weapons and explosives, noting that in some cases there were victims.
Last February, the US Foreign Ministry included Tren de Aragua – a criminal organization founded in Venezuela on the list of “terrorist organizations” and spreading its action to various Latin American countries – stressing that it is a threat to the US.
The Venezuelan government claims that Tren de Aragua, which started as a jail gang before it was exacerbated, was dismantled thanks to coordinated operations in 2023 and no longer exists.
