Before the gates lies the personal numberwho is expected to be incorporated into new police officers identitieswhile a meeting is held at Maximus Palace under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with the Ministers of Digital Governance and Citizen Protection.
It is noted that Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou, speaking of the personal number, has made it clear that those who have already issued a new identity do not need to replace it until its expiration date.
The minister explained: “The personal number will consist of three alphanumeric digits and the VAT. As alphanumeric we mean numbers and letters of common character from the Greek and Latin alphabet. The first two are selected, and the third automatically emerges. “
If the citizen does not choose the two alphanumerics within a quarter, the system will automatically define them.
What is personal number
The issuance of the personal number will be the mandatory element for verifying the identity of natural persons in their transactions with public sector bodies.
From now on, every citizen will have a unique 12 -digit numberwhere the first 9 digits will correspond to his VAT, while the remaining 3 will be added as a prefix, with two of them being selected by the citizen himself.
Is compulsorily issued and administered to any natural person entitled to VAT ID or AMKA.
The new number does not replace existing registries, but acts as a basic identity for any transaction with the State.
In order to obtain a personal number, you need to enter the platform myinfo.gov.gr, see their personal information and all existing numbers (AMKA, VAT, etc.) and confirm them. Citizen has the ability to correct any errors – such as incorrect names or spelling errors – before proceeding with the final confirmation.
Once this stage is completed, it will be given the opportunity to select two of the three additional digits that complete the PA, and thus the number will be issued.
Integration of personal number into new identity
The personal number will be incorporated into the new digital identity of the citizen, enhancing interoperability between services. Although the existing registers (VAT, AMKA, etc.) are not abolished, the operation of the PA is a key to modernizing the State.
Initially, the new system will be implemented in the public sector and will gradually extend to the private, with the aim of eliminating the need for natural identification documents, such as photocopies of identity.
The citizen will be able to have direct digital access to his personal number through Gov.gr.
