A meeting on the detection of increased uranium prices in two sources of the water supply network of certain settlements and villages of the municipality, took place on Saturday (24.05.2025) at Serreschaired by the Mayor and President of the Municipal Water Company (DEYA), Barbara Mitliaga.
At a meeting in Serres for drinking water, representatives of local authorities and bodies and officials took part and referred to the actions taken by the Municipality on Thursday, May 22, when the prohibition of drinking and use was imposed on cooking.
The ban on drinking water consumption involves about 2,000 water supply.
The inhabitants of these areas will be fed under the responsibility of the Municipality with clean drinking water in tanks for as long as the problem lastswhile providing bottled water to schools and assistance, if needed, from the “Home Aid” program, to vulnerable citizens, in collaboration with the Health Services.
The mayor assured that Checks across the Serres water supply network are normally carried out, water is clean and there is no concern for concernwhile all the necessary steps are taken to ensure public health and the quality of drinking water.
