“The Ionian Islands today celebrate the 161st anniversary of their Union with Greece, the first expansion of the modern Greek state.” This was underlined by posting on X the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias.
“The decision to divide the Ionian Islands from the British Empire and the attachment to the very small then poor Greek state was a profound evidence of the national identity of the Ionian Islands,” he added.
