Above Greece reached the tobacco from the forest fires of Canada which are raging in Manitoba province.
Tobacco layers of large fires raging in Manitoba province of Canada Since the beginning of May, in recent days in the upper atmosphere over the Eastern Mediterranean – and above Greece.
On May 19, at 2:00 in the morning, tobacco layers were recorded at 10km above the Observatory for Geosciences and Climate Change (PAGAIA) on the island of Antikythera. A few hours later, at 12:00, 9 and 13 kilometers were found again Above Thessalonikifrom the AUTH atmosphere’s physics workshop.
“The fires in Manitoba have destroyed huge forests, releasing huge amounts of tobacco. At these heights, tobacco can travel thousands of kilometers in a few days!
Although it is too high to directly affect our health, smoke interacts with sunlight, which can affect the climate of the planet, “says the information hub on atmospheric composition in Greece, Atmohub.

The results, according to the announcement, confirm that the smoke comes from North America, and in particular the area of the big fires in Canada.
