The start of construction of two new storage stations energy (Bess) in Florina and Ptolemais, which is expected to be completed in 2025, announced PPC.
This is Melitis 1 Energy Station, with a total installed power of 48 MW and a capacity of 96 MWh, which will be built near photovoltaic stations developed by PPC in Western Macedonia.
The second is Ptolemais 4 with a total installed power of 50 MW and a capacity of 100 MWh in the Ptolemais mines.
As PPC announced:
Liquid cooled batteries will be used to build the two stations, maximizing both the energy and safety during operation.
These stations aim to support the operation of the adjacent photovoltaic stations and contribute to the stability of the electricity system.
Through the operation of these stations, as well as future energy stations, the management of the production of renewable energy stations is optimized, their degree of contribution is maximized and the renewable power capacity is made to the fullest.
Based on the investment plan for the three-year period 2025-2027, the PPC Group is planning the operation of 600 MW Bess storage projects, which are currently located at various stages of implementation in Greece and Southeast Europe.
About two months ago, the PPC Group announced the launch of the construction of energy storage, 25 MW’s nominal power and 55 MWh located in neighboring Bulgaria. This station will support the operation of the new 165 MWP battery photovoltaic power plant in Bulgaria, Bulgaria and will contribute to the stability of the electricity system.
