The PASOK President attended the events in Thessaloniki of the Pontic Associations
At the events organized by the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Pontic Associations in Aristotelous Square in Thessaloniki, PASOK Change President Nikos Androulakis was found on Sunday morning.
In his address, Mr. Androulakis spoke of a national trauma and stood in the “attempt to recognize the heinous crime of Pontian genocide by the late Ottoman Empire, which is continuing”. “Memory is a guard for all mankind, so as not to repeat such tragedies, such as the one experienced by the Hellenism of Pontus and the Christian populations of the Eastern Ottoman Empire,” the PASOK president stressed.
“For us, for PASOK, it has a special symbolism. We take the baton from our founder, Andreas Papandreou, who was the one who, on his own initiative in 1994, was established May 19 as a day of remembrance of the Pontian Genocide, “Nikos Androulakis pointed out and continued: Recognition of the Pontic Genocide, which has stigmatized the history of Hellenism and the history of mankind. To finish with these phenomena, which unfortunately still happen today in our neighborhood. We see what’s going on in Gaza: a ethnic cleansing. At a time when people are going forward, there is a universal culture and we believe that international law is true, tens of thousands of people -young children, mothers -are unjustly losing their lives. “
