A serious incident occurred earlier today at the offices of the Financial Police at the Attica Police Directorate (GAD). A police officer was allegedly seriously injured when, under unspecified circumstances, he was thrown into the belly.
According to first reports, the uniform was within the offices of his department and handled his service pistol, probably checking it or cleaning it. During this procedure, he fired his weapon, injuring himself.
Immediately it sounded an alarm at the GAD facilities. The injured police officer was given first aid and was then taken to a on -call hospital where he was hospitalized in serious condition.
The competent services of the Hellenic Police have already begun investigations to fully clarify the circumstances under which the accident occurred and to record all incident data. It is examined whether the rules of safe storage and handling of the weapons have been observed.
