The retail industry, which employs more than 400,000 workers, is a key pillar of the Greek economy and a decisive factor in growth, employment and market operation, which has also emerged during the meeting.
Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis said: “At the breakfast of the Hellenic Retail Business Association – SELPE, we discussed the developments of the Greek economy, emphasizing the needs, challenges and capabilities of retailers. The economic progress that Greece has been recording in recent years is a common component of the creation of a stable political and economic territory that allows the country to release all its potential. Our mission to the Greek government is to maintain fiscal stability and give even greater boost to growth. We do this daily, investing in the comparative advantages of each industry and reducing regulatory and bureaucratic obstacles. SELPE is a valuable ally in this effort. Through the dialogue, listening to the proposals of retailers, we can further support the industry, which plays a key role in Greek entrepreneurship. “
For his part, SELPE President Costas Gerardos said: “Retail is the industry that drives all the gears of the economy. In this ecosystem where we coexist employees, states and businesses, we need to build balances that return value on each side. In today’s – excellent constructive – meeting with Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, we have focused on difficult issues that often act as “barricades” in progress, issues that require political boldness, technical processing and institutional flexibility. The minister approached our positions with an open spirit and dedication to the search for realistic solutions, which creates the conditions for a productive dialogue with consistency and continuity. As SELPE, we have declared “present” with all our might and know -how to contribute to the National Plan to strengthen entrepreneurship and the economy as a whole. “

The “Mornings of SELPE” are the initiative of the Association that includes a series of scheduled meetings of its members with institutional bodies.
