Saint Simon the Apostle, the zealot
Apostle Simon was one of the twelve disciples of the Lord and was a brother of Judas of Levaeus.
Saint Apostle Simon was named Zealot because of the warmth and zeal with whom he preached the speech of the Gospel. He came from Cana of Galilee and Kananitis (or Nathaniel or Bartholomew – son of the Tholomy) is known as Simon. After the Ascension of Christ and the Grace of Pentecost, Simon served as a wide missionary work.
He taught the Gospel in Persia, where after overthrowing the myth of Polytechnic, he revealed to a multitude of people the light of evangelical truth. He then went to Africa, where he preached the lively word of the true God and Savior, from Egypt to Mauritania.
The last venue of his admired missionary action was Britain. There, after taught the people the Christian faith, he was arrested by pagans tortured and suffered a crucifixion.
