Stabilization in the formation of price of coastal tickets The government’s decision brings from the beginning of this month.
This stabilization is based on the reduction of port fees by 50% and on low oil prices. However, the formation of stabilization conditions does not automatically mean constant values, as they are determined, as mentioned above, by oil prices, which are shaped on international scale and fluctuating.
After all, the main reason for rising fares in previous years remains, and this is no longer the fact that from 1 May 2025, the ferry companies in Greece are obliged, under European directive, to use more environmentally friendly fuel, which are more expensive.
This was expected to lead to increases in ferry ticket prices by about 10%.
However, in order to cherish this increase, the government has decided to reduce port fees by 50%in order to absorb the extra cost and avoid ticket increases.
Maritime Minister Vassilis Kikilias said there would be no increase in ferry ticket prices, neither now nor throughout the summer, as the government aims to support the Greek family, ensuring the possibility of moving from its continents.
Despite the significant increase in operating costs, with respect to both the residents of the islands who serve seamlessly in the winter – summer and not only the tourist season and to the tourist public, the Attica Group maintains ticket prices, with the exception of ETS’s adjustment to the Crete lines. While from 1.5.2025 the group’s conventional ships changed fuel type due to the European directive which is more expensive by 22%.
The government’s decision to reduce by 50% of port charges and port expenses, coupled with the reduction in international fuel prices, has made a decisive contribution to the coalition companies to absorb a significant portion of increased operating costs resulting from the new regulatory framework, such as the fuel change.
These developments shape stability conditions and facilitate the retention of ticket prices for the benefit of passengers and island societies.

In addition to commercial policy, the Attica Group responding to different needs, provides significant discounts and free tickets to islands and residents of the islands who go for health reasons as well as for sports, educational, cultural events.
