The contract for the project “Construction of Waste Processing Unit and Bio -In Waste Treatment Unit within the Landfill 2nd DEM” was signed today (7.5.2025), between Giorgos Skouteropoulos, a representative of the Elector – the Top Tophas Management Company, of the President of the Association of Solid Waste 2nd Management Unit of the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, Saraki Constantinou.
The event was attended by the Secretary General. Waste Management Coordination Emmanouil Grafakos, MP Etoloakarnania Athanasios Papathanassis, Western Greece Regional Governor Nektarios Farmakis, as well as first and second degree of self -government of the Region of D. Greece.
It is noted that the contracting principle of the project, which relates to the construction of the installation and its operation for 6 years with the right of another 6 years, is the compulsory 2nd Solid Waste Management Association. of the Prefecture of Aetolonia while the total budget amounts to EUR 78.34 million.
According to the design, in its full development it will serve the wider areas of Agrinio, Amphilochia and Xerimerus and will be able to process three distinct waste currents, pre -selected organic, pre -selected recyclables and residual compositions of approximately 43,000.
It is worth noting that both during the construction phase and during the operation, dozens of new jobs will be created, and finally it is noted that the project will be included in the NSRF Funding period 2021-2027 and meet the requirements of the new National Waste Management Planning.
As he stated Mr. George Skouteropoulos: “After the project is completed, the areas served will have a state -of -the -art waste processing facility, according to the latest European Union requirements regarding the reduction of the quantities that will eventually be buried, while meeting the recovery and recycling objectives.” He continued, stressing: “This project, in addition to finally resolving the most technically and scientifically scientific way, the chronic problem of waste management, will at the same time contribute to the achievement of national goals on the circular economy and boost the economy of the local community in general.”
