The Battle of Religiously: Which companies dominate and what the big projects are braking

Despite the great opportunity opened for the construction sector, with the backlog project Large companies now approaching 20 billion euros, the industry is still facing serious challenges.

At the same time, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is trying to accomplish some of the most iconic projects of the previous decade, attempting to close a major capital in the country’s construction data.

In addition to the well -known public pathogens, which delay the implementation of projects, there has been deficiency in specialized staff, while licensing procedures for overseas workers are particularly slow. The studies of many projects are not mature, and often funding remains problematic.

The climate crisis also adds new data, making many of the designed projects inadequate, while underlining the need for durable and sustainable infrastructure. Despite the state’s initiatives, such as the Bridge Register, there remains the substantial support, better management and accountability of both the state and the industry itself.

In this climate and after significant delays and problems, soon as announced by the new Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas, significant road and rail projects will be completed or traded.

Already a few days ago, signatures with the contractors for € 1.35 billion from the “Daniel and” Elias “disasters in Thessaly fell. The rails must be completed within 15 months, and the roads in 48 months.

The concession contract for the construction of the North Road Crete (BOAK) is expected to be signed in one week, and specifically for the main sub -project Chania – Heraklion.

As for the Patras – Pyrgos highway, it will be completed in 2025, with the first 65 kilometers delivered by the end of July and the remaining 10 by the end of the year.

For the Central Greece Motorway (E65), the Ministry of Infrastructure estimates that the project will be fully integrated in the spring of 2026, with the tradition of the last (northern) Department of Kalambaka – Egnatia Odos. As far as the Thessaloniki subway is concerned, five additional stations will be added to the underground network until February next year.

Another important project is the Flyover in Thessaloniki, which, according to the ministry, is proceeding rapidly and is expected in conjunction with the subway – to effectively cope with the city’s traffic problem. Finally, the construction of the new airport in Kastelli, Crete, is at an advanced stage, with the completion rate already exceeding 50%.
