GSEE invites all workers to participate vigorously in nationwide strike and at the rallies for Labor May Day.
The concentration of GSEE For Labor May Day will be with the Athens Labor Center at 11:00 in the morning on Thursday May 1st in Klafthmonos Square.
In this context, the closed will remain the supermarket.

AB Vassilopoulos supermarkets will remain closed, but the airport store will be operated in particular with 07.00-23.00.

All Lidl supermarkets will remain closed on May Day.
Cretan: They won’t open supermarkets
All Cretan supermarkets will remain closed.
Massoutis: Closed stores
Masoutis’ stores will remain closed except for the store at Macedonia Airport 07:00.
May Day: What is true for employees
May 1st belongs to the optional public holidays, but by decision of the Minister of Labor each year as a day of compulsory holiday, under Article 1 of AN. 380/68. This year, May 1, 2014 coinciding with a working day (Thursday) and was determined as a compulsory holiday by a ministerial decision (Government Gazette B 928.14/4/2014).
Specifically, employees’ employment and business operations are prohibited, except for those that operate legally on Sundays and holidays such as e.g. Businesses in Health, Tourism, Transport, Continuing Factories etc.
In particular:
For employees who are paid on a salary and will not be employed on May 1, they are entitled to receive their paid salary without any increase.
For employees who are paid on a wage and employed on May 1, they will receive the usually paid wage and increase of 75% to be calculated in their legal hourly wages for as many hours working.
If they are paid a monthly salary, if the business operates on Sundays and public holidays, they will only receive a 75% increase in their legal hourly wage for those hours of work, and if it is a delay and emergency operation on May 1st, they will receive an additional 75% ( as many hours of work.
May Day: What’s true for shops
The stores will remain closed, and only ovens, pastry shops and some mini markets will be left open. They also operate normally catering and entertainment.
