Extended and completed on June 30th the power of the profit limit restriction measure -in foodthe basic livelihoods and the fuel– at the percentage that existed by December 31 2021. The relevant arrangement is provided for amendment filed today in Parliament by the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos.
The amendment also provides for the extension by October 31, 2025 of the measures on the household basket, compulsory announcement of appreciation and of the price Fruit and vegetables and the ban on bids and discounts on products that had been priced in the previous three months.
As the Minister of Development pointed out in his position, these measures were an important tool for supervision of the market and consumer protection. “This is a particularly strict measure and through the market controls, it has greatly helped to diminish food inflation and inflation in basic living types,” he said, adding: “In this area, Greece currently has the lowest inflation.”
At the same time, Mr Theodorikakos announced that the Ministry of Development has already prepared a new framework for structural reforms for consumer protection and market supervision, which will be discussed at the next cabinet.
