The US president Donald Trump assured on Thursday night (24/4/25) that the US is exerting “strong pressure” in Russia with the aim of ending war on the war in Ukraineestimating that Moscow would make a “big concession” by agreeing not to overwhelm the whole country.
“We are putting strong pressure on Russia,” the US president said at the reception of Norwegian Prime Minister Yonas Gar Spring the White House Oval Office.
Donald Trump said earlier that he had his own deadline for conflict and that Ukraine and Russia must both negotiate.
Asked by a journalist what concession is willing to make Moscow, Trump replied “to stop the war” and continued ‘To stop, (so) not to take the whole country’clarifying that in his view it is a “large concession” on behalf of Russia.
The US president stressed that “Ukraine must also want to reach an agreement”.
Upon entering the White House, along with the head of the Norwegian government, Trump was asked by a journalist if he believes that Putin would hear him. “I believe it,” The US president replied.
On Wednesday (23/4/25), President Trump had strongly criticized Volodimir Zelenski, accusing him of “inflammatory statements” for the Ukrainian president had reiterated Kiev’s position of not going to recognize Russian sovereignty.
