The low -income who remain in rent They are the most profitable of the new package of permanent support measures announced yesterday (22.4.2025) by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and specialized by Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
The reason for the return of 1/12 of the rents paid by any citizen (employed, unemployed, low -income) based on certain income and property criteria) in 2024 and on the other for the payment of financial support of EUR 250 to low -income pensioners.
As one meter does not exclude the other, for any citizen who meets the criteria of each of the two meters at the same time, that social group, who can receive them both are the unmarried pensioners (but also uninsured elderly, disabled) with incomes of up to € 14,000 and up to € 14,000 and € 120,000 and € 120,000. Real estate up to 140,000 euros.
The above citizens will not only receive a reinforcement of 250 euros in November, but if they stay in rent (main residence) they will also receive a rent return of up to 800 euros in the same month.
The other beneficiaries of the rent refund (retirees with income and property above those limits provided by the new measure, employees, etc.), who will only receive rental rented on the basis of the expenditure declared in 2024, are less won.
Lost will be – on the goals – who declare rental expenditure this year, as they will receive the return of 1/12 in 2026 and not in November 2025.
