Strong upward trends recorded the values of shares Today Tuesday (22.4.2025) at the first meeting of the Athens Stock Exchange, after Easter holidays, with market to exceed 1,670 units.
The market found brackets both in the upgrading of the Greek economy by the S&P rating house, as well as the announcement of the primary surplus at 4.8% of GDP at € 11.4 billion versus € 4.5 billion in 2023, exceeding 2.3% of GDP. The focus of investment interest were found bank shares.
The General Price Index closed at 1,672.13 points, with a profit of 1.82%. The value of the transactions amounted to EUR 141.43 million, with 29,566,459 shares. The total market capitalization increased by EUR 1,964 billion compared to the previous meeting.
The high capitalization index rose 2.36%, while the mid -capitalization index rose 1.10%.
Of the high capitalization shares, the shares of Optima Bank (+7.14%), Eurobank (+6.11%), Alpha Bank (+5.36%), Piraeus (+4.26%), AIA (+2.85%), Metlen Energy & Metals (+2.26%), and National (+2.20%), on the contrary, the shares of Titan (-0.86%) and Aktor (-0.60%) declined.
The largest volume of trading was presented by Alpha Bank and Eurobank with 8,833,717 and 6,769,962 shares, respectively. The highest value was recorded by National with € 22.93 million and Alpha Bank with € 18.93 million.
66 shares went up, 37 and 15 remained stable. The shares rose the most: Pairis (+7.44%) and Optima Bank (+7.14%). The biggest decline was recorded by Doppler (-9.64%) and caressed (-8.00%).
