THE Nan Rewarded for his amazing appearances in this year’s Regular Season Euroleague. The Panathinaikos leader won the “Alfonso Ford” award – for the top scorer – but also the MVP, being the third one to do this “double” in the same season.
As such, Cereic Nan became only the third from the 2004-05 season (given by these awards), who wins both of these awards at the Euroleague at the same time!
The other two who have done it are Sasa Vezenkov, who came out of the top scorer and MVP in the 2022-23 season, and Nanto de Colo, who did something similar in the 2015-16 season, then reaching the title with CSKA Moscow.
It is also noteworthy that the French guard that year also won the Euroleague with CSKA Moscow’s jersey, as well as the Final-4 MVP, which Nan desires.
If he does, he will “catch” the experienced ace in the informal … quartet of the trophies that can do his own in a racing season.
Having been selected in the top five of Euroleague last year and this year, Nan is the first Panathinaikos player to become a more valuable player after Dimitris Diamantidis in the 2010-11 season.
At the same time, he becomes the third American to win the award after Mike James of Monaco (in the 2023-24 season) and the only Euroleague MVP, Anthony Parker of Maccabi Tel Aviv (2004-05, 2005-06).
