Meeting between the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his sultan Oman Haitham bin Tariq is scheduled for Tuesday (22.04.25) in Moscow, the two countries said today.
“On April 22nd, Moscow will host talks between Vladimir Putin and the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq al -Said, who pays a formal visit to Russia,” the Kremlin told Telegram.
It is noted that Oman has taken on a mediation role in Iran’s nuclear program talks, the two countries said today.
The two leaders will discuss bilateral cooperation issues in various areas, including in the economic and “topical issues of the international agenda”, the statement said.
Oman authorities confirmed this visit to Russia on Monday and Tuesday.
“During the visit, the two leaders will exchange their views on a series of timely issues of regional and international interest,” the Sultan’s Palace said in a statement issued.
This visit is taking place while negotiations between Washington and Tehran for the Iranian nuclear program are ongoing. Critical talks took place today in Rome, under the auspices of Oman, between Iranian and American delegations.
Russia, which has reinforced its ties with Iran in the last three years, said it is ready to play “any role that will be useful” in the negotiations.
